Form 1 Admission in Kenya 2014

After years of hard work, the season of admission to secondary schools in Kenya has come. However, not all will secure a place, as only 77% have been selected to join Form 1 in various secondary schools in Kenya. Paradoxically, Kenya as a country  does not have capacity to meet the demand for secondary school education.   The deficiency level as per the rate of admission in 2014 stands at 23%. Close to 200,000 pupils out of 844,475 candidates who sat for KCPE in 2013 will miss a place in secondary schools. The ‘unlucky’ lot has been advised to seek admission in the 700 technical and vocational training schools countrywide (Kaimenyi, 2014).

For those who have been admitted, they could check the secondary school they have been admitted to via SMS and Online:

  • To check the secondary school one has been admitted to online, visit:  http://www.education.go.ke/ and enter the Index number.
  • To check the secondary school one has been admitted to via SMS, send an SMS with your Index Number to 20042 from any network.

Schools Net Kenya Consultancy congratulates those who have secured a place in secondary schools and all others seeking their place in vocational training schools.

Observation: As a people, confounded by paradox of our time, where as a country we are unable to meet the demand of providing ‘educational places’  to our sons and daughters, we need to think critically. Perhaps, it has come of age to think of  borrowing the concept of ‘home schooling’ common in developed nations like UK.
